A Review of the Char-Griller 5050 Duo Gas-and-Charcoal Grill

My spouse and i recently tested the Char-Griller 5050 Duo Gas-and-Charcoal Cooking area grill for a period of two weeks. All of us did this so that we could write an in depth review to help anyone thinking of purchasing this mix grill. We made a point to cook on it as often as is possible during the review period so that we would get a good idea showing how this product performs with regular use. Here is my review. best dual fuel combination charcoal/gas grill

This Char-Griller 5050 Duet model will cost you just a little over $400, so that it is mid-range as far as price is concerned. This kind of unit is unique in that it happens to be two independent grills on a single frame; one uses charcoal and the other uses propane. This kind of gives you a lot more flexibility in grilling than the usual one grill of either type can offer. This model is also compatible with an attachable smoker package made by Char-Griller, available for separate purchase. My spouse and i did get the cigarette smoker, so that we would be able to examine everything this unit is capable to do.

My hubby and I ordered our new grill online and had it shipped to use so that people didn’t have to deal with the hassle of obtaining such a huge product home securely. I was somewhat astonished by just how heavy this unit is; it weighs 160 pounds without the optional smoker. We all removed the constituents from the box and analyzed them. Much of the hefty weight of this unit comes from the cooking grates; they are made of heavy-duty company iron. That is certainly my personal favorite material for cooking food grates, since cast straightener retains and disperses warmth better than other materials. Cast iron does require a tiny bit of maintenance though, you require to keep the metal oiled (also called seasoned) in order to avoid corroding. You are rewarded for that maintenance with picture-perfect grill marks that also impart flavor to food.

The other components of this Char-Griller Duo Gas-and-Charcoal Grill are not quite as heavy-duty. The linen metal which enables up the key body on this unit is a lttle bit on the slender side. The materials are decent, simply not extremely impressive. My husband and I tackled assembly and it took us much longer than any other barbeque grill we ever assembled: two hours! I suppose that is to be expected since we were actually piecing together three different models using one frame (four products if you count the side burner. )

One particular strange thing we seen was the holes in the bottom of the smoker attachment. You need to fill this product with sand and openings are counter-productive. They show up to be there in order to attach lower limbs if you utilize the smoker as a stand-alone model. We all put a couple of screws in the openings to solution the challenge, but I feel that is something Char-Griller should have done.

My spouce and i both feel that Char-Griller needs to have done an improved job of getting all three components more air-tight. Obviously, no grill or smoker will actually be air-tight. Even so, this particular unit allows a lot of air into the cooking areas, despite the dampers completely closed. This does make it somewhat difficult to control the temperature.

First of all, let’s speak about the cigarette smoker. I loved having one, although this is not specific to this smoker. Smoking cigarettes really gives food a deep, natural flavor that can not be copied with much success. All of us used the smoker for ribs, beef brisket and an entire turkey through the review period. All cooked properly beautifully. One quick take note: we noticed the coloring at the top of the smoker bubbled somewhat after the turkey. This is our third time utilizing it and we experienced it looking for 12 several hours straight. A wire wash cleaned up the condition and it looks fine, but it does go to show that the isn’t the most heavy-duty smoker away there. We did have some trouble manipulating the temperature while smoking, as said before, but the smoked foods still finished up correctly cooked in spite of some heat variations. In general, this is a respectable smoker.
